The 5th International Symposium on Negative Thermal Expansion and Related Materials (ISNTE-5) is the fifth in a series of International Symposia that aim to bring together researchers from around the world interested in controlling and exploiting the properties of thermoresponsive materials.
Previous editions of the symposium were hosted in Beijing (2015), Tokyo (2017), Edinburgh (2019), and Padua (2023). We are excited to announce that the fifth symposium will be held in Porto from 29 July to 1 August 2025, with an opening reception scheduled for delegates on Tuesday, 29 July.
The conference will address various topics related to negative thermal expansion (NTE) and the control of thermal expansion, including:
NTE phenomena of phonon, electronic, and magnetic origin
NTE materials (oxides, fluorides, metal-organic frameworks, intermetallics, organic molecular materials, polymers, metamaterials, etc.)
Different strategies for controlling the thermal expansion of materials and related applications
More in general, thermoresponsive materials.
